This publication was developed as part of the Water Data Banks Project and presents analyses and interpretation of water-resources data compiled by the Core Parties. The purpose of this publication is to report on trends for selected time periods of water-resources data measured in areas of Israeli, Jordanian, and Palestinian interest, referred to as the study region (fig. 1). The data used in these trend analyses were compiled from data bases that are maintained by the Israeli Hydrological Service, the Jordanian Ministry of Water and Irrigation, and the Palestinian Water Authority. These data include measurements of groundwater levels, discharge from springs, streamflow, and chemical analyses of chloride and nitrate concentrations in groundwater samples collected from wells. The time periods vary for these measurements of water quantity and quality throughout the region, but the overall period of record considered for the trend analyses in this report was selected to be hydrologic years (October–September) 1974–98.
