| ABSTRACT: | The article describes the collection cistern, its construction, costs and usage. It also gives recommendations for the improvement of cisterns. Collection cisterns are used to store rain water which is collected from rooftops. A collection cistern is an underground concrete-built reservoir having a volume which ranges from 100-150 m3. Water collected from rooftops is conveyed via pipes to be stored in the cistern. Almost every Palestinian house is equipped with a collection cistern especially at villages where cisterns are the main source of fresh water. |
