European Union Funded Projects — Phase 4

Phase 4 of the European Union funded Water Data Banks project started officially on 1 March 2005. The project will be in its inception phase until July 2005.

Four contracts have been awarded:

1. DHV (Netherlands) has been awarded the main technical assistance contract. Inputs will also be provided by IHE-Unesco (Netherlands) and DHI (Denmark) who act as sub-contractors to DHV. The local sub-contractors will be: DHV-MED (Israeli Party), Engicon (Jordanian Party) and Palestinian Hydrology Group (Palestinian Party). The project will last for three years.
2. Water Resource Associates has been awarded a service contract for Technical Supervision of the other contracts.
   
3. Agmin (Italy) has been awarded a contract for the supply of laboratory, water control and measuring equipment.
4. Solado (Italy) has been awarded a contract for the office and audio visual equipment and for the vehicles.

The Delegation of the European Commission in Amman (http://www.deljor.cec.eu.int/ )is responsible for the administration of the contract with DHV and also for the two supplies contracts, with technical advice from DHV.

The main activities of the project, which following on from Water Data Banks 3 are concerned with Waste Water Re-use, will be to:

1. Enhance and extend the decision support system for waste water re-use developed in Water Data Banks 3.
2. Extend the Water Quality Base Line Survey.
3. Enhance data bases

These three components, and also the training and the supply of equipment, are complementary to each other.
